Goat milk skin benefits

We use a lot of cosmetics to help us have youthful and glowing skin. One of the ways to achieve this is by using goat milk for its skin benefits. Though traditionally cow’s milk has been used in cosmetics and other home-made masks. Goat milk can also be used as an alternative. But before coming up with masks using goat milk let us first look at the benefits of using goat’s milk.

Goat milk skin benefits

One advantage that goat milk has over cow’s milk is that the fat molecules in goat milk are smaller than those in cow’s milk. This can help in moisturizing dry skin. As a result your skin will be less irritated.

Goat milk is rich in vitamin A. This vitamin is also known as retinoid. It is always present in most of the anti-aging creams. Retinoid is known for the promotion of collagen. This will in turn improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitamin A is an anti-oxidant. Which means it can protect the skin from free radicals that are caused by the suns UV rays and pollution. Vitamin A can also be beneficial in treating skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. This is because it helps to reduce inflammation and promote healthy skin cell growth.

Another component that goat milk is rich in is lactic acid. This is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that is derived from milk. You might have seen AHA as an ingredient in many cosmetic moisturizers. Lactic has many benefits for the skin

Lactic acid is a gentle exfoliant. This means it is good at removing dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. This will help in the improvement of the texture and tone of the skin.

Lactic acid can help to moisturize the skin by drawing moisture from the environment. Due to its exfoliating effects lactic acid can brighten the appearance of the skin by lightening dark spots, age spots and hyperpigmentation.

Lactic acid can reduce the production of sebum. So in a way it can also treat acne. It can also unclog pores to prevent pimples and blackheads. Lactic acid can make your skin more sensitve to the sun. So you will have to use a sunscreen when you move out of the sun.

Goat milk helps to maintain the pH level of your skin when applied topically. The right acidic levels will help to create a barrier that protects the skin from harmful bacteria and other environmental factors.

When the pH level of the skin is not balanced then you will get skin dryness, irritation and an increased risk of infection. You can also get inflammation and other skin issues. Therefore it is necessary to maintain the right pH level.

Maintaining the right pH level will help to prevent the growth of bacteria that can lead to acne. So in a way goats milk can prevent acne.

The pH level will also help to reduce inflammation and redness. The acid mantle of the skin will also help to retain moisture and keep the skin hydrated.

Goat milk mask

Now since we know the benefits of goat milk for the skin it is time we come up with a mask using goat’s milk.

For the mask that we have come up for you, you will need 2 tablespoon of powdered goat milk, 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoon of water. Mix all the ingredients in a clean bowl. You will start to get a creamy paste. Now clean your face with a facial cleanser. Keep it on your face for 20 minutes and rinse with cool water.

Now a very important step that you must do before applying the mask is to do a patch test. This means that you have to apply the paste to the inside of your elbow. To check whether you have some allergies or whether your skin is too sensitive for the mask.

Also don’t forget to use sunscreen when you move out of the house due to the presence of lactic acid in the mask.

In conclusion

By using goat milk for skin you can use the ingredients present in goat’s milk to get a smoother and youthful skin complexion. You can also treat conditions like dry skin and acne.
